My monthly round up of my weekly planner spreads and layouts and a few pages shared from my smash book from April. This post is mainly pretty pictures of my layouts, so I hope you like the pretties. Happy National Scrapbooking Day!
This page is the first in my new blank grid Traveler's Times notebook. I always use a blank notebook and play around with my layouts. This uses washi tape with the days of the week and is a mish-mash of different stickers including some of the lovely Carpe Diem stickers which I was gifted from the UKPA wishlist.
The gorgeous 'Hello Spring' kit above is by Kelly Bendelow from Hazy Days UK. For this one I have played around with a vertical layout. I love all of Kelly's kits they are so beautiful, you can see more of them in the links below. Use code KERRY15 for 15% off no min spend.
Planners Easter Showcase
This kit uses the stunning Tea Party set from Fab Planner Print. I love the Alice in Wonderland theme, especially as I am directing a short version of it at the minute. All of Toni's sets are stunning.
Smash Book Pages for April
The page above was started ages ago with the black out poetry, but I added some botanocal images which really set the page off. I found a botanical vintage book in a charity shop for 50p - complete bargain and hello... ephemera!!! You can see more ephemera links here in my blog post - Art Journal and Planner Ephemera (10 Free Digital Sites)
Finally, my Month review for April as part of a smash book spread. I used a lot of the vintage papers and stickers I was gifted from UKPA and I love the vintage feel of it.
So, what have you been creating? Don't forget to show off your creative journaling and art journaling in my Facebook Group - Kerrymay._.Makes a Mess, would love to see you there
Planning has changed my life... broad general statement I know, but it really has. Planning and planners are not just a hobby for me, they have bought me out of my shell and comfort zone and made me a more organised person as well as making some great friends along the way in the planner community and allowing me to be much more creative. I wouldn't have got in to art or journaling if it wasn't for planning. So join me on National Stationery Week and World Stationery Day on my planner journey.
My Planner Journey:
I got in to planning when I was browsing through Pinterest and was instantly hooked seeing all the pretty Erin Condren and Kikki K planners. I knew it was something I would love straight away. I have always been a 'planner'. On holiday I always want to know what we are doing each day (much to the annoyance of those on holiday with me) and as a child I used to cut up magazines to make new ones and pretend I was a magazine editor. You can see me talking about this in the Gimme 5 video here.
My first planner (real planner) was the Smash Hits diary when I was 15 and I loved it. I religiously filled it in every day. My sister had a Fun Fax and I used to help her set it up. I was so jealous of it, but I was an older teen and it just wasn't cool! At University I kept diaries/journals daily and used to write fancy letters to my mum on a weekly basis (my first taste of snail/happy mail). My teacher planners at work have always been so detailed too, so it all makes perfect sense to continue the planning now.
My first decorated planner:
My first decorative planner was from Full Stop Stationery now Full Stop Gift Shop in September 2015 and is pictured above, I loved it and quickly moved on to a Carpe Diem. I now use travelers notebook style planners and have never looked back. You can see how I made the transition here.
In February 2016 I soon found groups on facebook, my first being a few American planner groups, free planner printable groups then Mrs Brimbles and lastly UK Planner Addicts. I have made so many online friends and have been to several planner meets, both locally and further afield. I had never done art journaling before last year and have never seen myself as being any good art. Since then I have written several art tutorials and have set up a Facebook group for art journaling - Kerrymay._,Makes a Mess - all because of finding the Planner Community (for which I am very grateful).
Make sure that you have a read of the other girls fantastic blog posts as part of the
'Planner Girls Collective'.
Hi all, just a quick round up of what I have been up to over the end of term school holidays...aww, it's so lovely to have a break from work and so nice to be able to catch up on my planners, creative journaling, smash books, art and blog. I really have been using the break for a bit of me time... the marking can wait. I can't believe it is Easter already, where is time going? Crazy!
ART JOURNALING GROUP CHALLENGES:
If you missed the post about the new Art Journaling Group you can see it here or you can join the group directly here - https://www.facebook.com/groups/KerrymayMakesAMess
There is quite a bit going on in the group. We took part in the first group challenge last week on Tea Bag Art. You can see my results of that above and pop in to the group to see the creations the lovely members made... they are awesome! The hardest part of this challenge for me was that I don't like tea. No, not just don't like it, I hate it, hate the smell and hate touching wet tea bags. It certainly was a challenge.
We are now on to challenge 2 which takes inspiration from acrylic fluid painting and drawing circles. If you're up for the challenge then pop on over and share your creativity.
The group also has places you can share your work and is a place you can go to relax, chat or get inspiration or ask for help.
Above is a couple of new pages in my art journal for the 2nd group challenge, it's a bit of a 'creative mess' so hopefully I will have a go at a better one this weekend (after I have done at least 'some' of my marking before I go back to work (hahaha). The second image is a page from my smash book, which I love. I received some gorgeous washi tape and ephemera from the UKPA group on Facebook as part of their Wishes post, so have put it to good use. I am on a No Spend on planner, art or stationery of any kind from now until 22nd May (I know, I know, violin please and a huge dose of willpower thrown my way). See more of my Smash Book pages here.

The value of the contents will always be more than the cost of the kit as well :)

So what have you been up to? Any art? Planning? Or just enjoying the run up to Easter? I have no children myself, but can imagine it's not a time for getting much me time if you have.

Yay, it's officially Spring take a look at at what I've been up to with my creative planning, journaling, BUJO and art work for March in my travelers notebooks, Uglydori planner and Lyradori art journals, including my Spring Bucket List in my bullet journal as part of the Planner Girls Collective series.
I love Spring time, but I have been so busy (and tired) at work that I really haven't had much time for planning or journaling. Many of the things I am going to share have been completed as a work in progress throughout March, but I must say I am very happy with the results.
Weekly Pages in my Traveler's Notebook
You can see how busy last week has been when you look at last weeks layout. If you follow the blog, you will know that I draw out my layouts or change the layout each week (as seen here Bujo Planning and Goals and here Hello 2017 - Planner Girls Collective) as I use a blank notebook in my Uglydori. I like how it is always different and can have more stickers or writing based on how busy my week is. This page uses a gorgeous kit by Kelly over at Hazy Days UK, that was part of the Ugly Bug Plans subscription box - you can get similar kits here including my Aprils monthly view kit that I used, just drop Kelly a message and ask for whatever month you want - use the code KERRY15 for 15% off no min spend.

I decided to make some memory pages in my smash book to document the day and all of the lovely people I met along the way. You can see a video of my pages which include the one above which I love and pages I smashed of my tickets, information pack and the pages that my table added in our journal swap #chillchicks ._.
The whole weekend was perfect, a nice mix of a few chilled out drinks and food, a lovely meal, Starbucks, swimming, steam room and jacuzzi time, pampering massage and facial (and OMG a head massage too), then time to craft, journal, plan and shop till your hearts content and indeed it was. See what we got up to on the journal page itself.
(Stickers used are from the shops mentioned after the video)
Planning on a budget? Looking for free planner printable sites? - Read on. Anyone that knows me knows how frugal I am, I love a good bargain, even when I have some spare money around I feel guilty spending it. If you are a regular reader of my blog you will know I have already given budget tips for art resources in the post here. In this blog post I will share my organisation tips for using free planner printables, along with my favourite freebie planner printable sites as part of the Planner Girls Collective series of posts.
5 OF THE BEST FREE PLANNER PRINTABLE SITES:
CUTE DAISY.COM: http:///cutedaisy.com
Maryam's website was the first printable site I found and to top it all off she is a lovely lady too. She has tons of cute sets for Happy Planners and Erin Condren sizes, but they can easliy be adapted for any layout. I used them in my horizontal Carpe Diem and used the Erin Condren ones and reduced the size when printing to 87% and that worked a treat. The owl and birthday pages below both use her gorgeous freebies.
Another great free planner printable website that I found from Pinterest. I love the variety of layouts they have, I got most of my gold sparkly printables from here like the set in bottom left of the image above.
What can I say about this site other than WOW. Victoria has amazing free printables, some of the best around in almost any style or theme you can think of and they are all stunning. If you have not visited her page you must...go on, go now! (Make sure you come back here though, he he he). Part of the Olympic set in the image is from her site and I have saved many more of her gorgeous layouts and even used some in my journaling for my Liverpool trip (yes she even has a set on The Beatles).
Monica's facebook group is a cavern of wonderful goodies. I have never seen any drama there and it is constantly being updated with goodies. Monica often runs polls to ask what people want and she is always adding new content such as tv show sets and comic style layouts. Can't recommend enough.
Garrie's facebook group is another of my first planner groups I joined. She has an amazing selection of functional stickers in the files section and everyone is always so helpful. She has been taking a bit of a break, but there are plenty of goodies to save for every topic (fitness, parenting, trackers, health, date nights etc).
You can follow my Planner Printables board on Pinterest below for many more freebie sites and layouts (these are not mine, just re-pinning amazing free sites). - https://uk.pinterest.com/KerryMayMakes/planner-printables/

Do let me know of any other free planner printable sites in the comments, I wouldn't want to miss any gems.
See you soon,
On Wednesday a few of the lovely UKPA (UK Planner Addicts) planner girls organised a small meet up in Mansfield (UK) to eat cake and talk planners. This has become a regular meet up for us East Midland girls. We meet up most school holidays to catch up, show off our planners and share swaps and goodies. I love how friendly the planner community is in the UK and have met a lot of new friends in the short time that I have been a part of it. I'm just still disappointed no one would have an afternoon tea with me - I am a greedy guts! Hahaha (only joking girls).
We always meet up in the delightful Little Sugar Shack and then head out into town for a little 'boutique' shopping (ahem...charity shops), then usually head in to Mansfield for a scout around The Works, Poundland and Primark. Check out my video below for my first ever haul video, where I will share the goodies I purchased and the freebies shared.
Next on my list is the fabulous Pamper and Plan event, which is now sold out. This is run/organised by Michelle from Ugly Bug Plans, Kelly from Hazy Days UK and Leanne from The Geeky Planner. I can't wait to meet new people and enjoy my first big planner event... not to mention the crafts, planning, relaxation and spa! It looks like it is going to be a great event and I have already planned it all out in my planner of course.
So, have you been to any planner meet up's? Have you got any planned in the pipeline? - Leave a comment below ._. xxxx
