Guest post for Mrs Brimbles Creative Team.
Hello everyone. Wow, November is here and Bonfire Night has been and gone...crazy! Today I am creating a Bonfire Night themed memory keeping page in my creative journal. I have used the October collage sheets and printables from Mrs Brimbles Patreon page and wow we were spoiled for choice with last months goodies. As part of the layout, I have turned some of the printables in to die cut pieces.
Making Die Cuts for Ephemera
To make the die cuts, I printed out the smaller collage sheets on to glossy thick paper (which actually came with my Jane Davenport Butterfly Book). After they were printed, I carefully cut around them, then used a corner rounder to make the edges smooth. Below are my finished die cuts from the printable collage sheets, they are so cute!
Creative Journal Page Process:
Firstly I printed out one of the large painted backgrounds from the collage sheets and then stuck this to a double page spread using pritt stick. You can see that I had some trouble and a massive crease appeared on the page. I didn't let this bother me too much as I was going to be sticking over it. The background I chose is so vibrant, the pink and yellow really pop on the page, perfect for my Bonfire Night page.
Next I chose a photo from a fireworks party I had attended and used that as a focal image (and to mask the crease a bit).
The colours of the page really do provide a vivid contrast to the photo and really make the photo stand out against the colours.
Adding Gold Foil Lettering
As part of a workshop by Prima at Plannercon Europe called Sparkle and Shine, we learnt to create lettering using gold foil and rub on transfer sheets. Prima provided all the materials and it was so easy to do, literally rub the transfer onto your page, layer over the foil and rub down to the page, then peel off. As you can see I need a bit more practice, but I love how it is messy as it really is in keeping with my theme. I may also have bought some more gold foil from their stand. I then went around the foil with a black felt tip.
Finally, I added another photo and stuck down some of the ephemera die cuts I made earlier and a bit of text using stickers and a gold Sharpie. I had still to use my stickers from one of the Brimbles Box kits (the space theme), so added a few of these to the page too. I love the finished look. The collage sheets and printables have really bought the page and layout together.
I've really enjoyed putting this page together, I haven't really made a page before using a full page printable, but it is something I will definitely do again. Thanks for reading. Be sure to check out Mrs Brimbles Patreon Page, even more goodies are being offered now, more videos, more collage sheets and even a 20% discount code to her shop.

Guest post for Mrs Brimbles Art Creative Team
I see a lot of posts in the planner and creative journal groups asking for ideas on using their printables, papers and creative kits. For this post I am using Anna's patreon resources (workshops, videos and printables) to give you some inspiration on how you might use them in your own planners, creative journals, art journals and on memory keeping pages.
Art / Creative Journal Page
The October printables are stunning. I created a post last week using the canvas style printables where I created a Flower Art Journal Page, so I wanted to create a smaller page spread for my creative art journal to maybe add some memory keeping to. I started by adding some watercolour and alcohol ink in Autumnal colours to the page. I then added the amazing watercolour fox printable and added some definition to this by adding a darker colour behind it. I wanted the watercolour to be a bit more abstract than my usual style, so added a few swirls and splodges in watercolour to add a bit more interest to the page.
Next I added the Autumn printable brush lettering header and painted over the white in the same colour paint I had used on the page. I added embellishments of autumnal washi tape, a cut out from a Brimbles Box scrapbook paper which I added an Autumn quote too in a white posca paint pen. Lastly definition was added by drawing an outline to frame the page in brown watercolour and used the white paint pen to draw out details on the page. I love the result of the vibrant colours and that cute Mr Foxy.
Bullet Journal Autumn Page
I won an Instagram prize a few weeks ago: The Little Bullet Book, which is stunning and wanted to make a start straight away. I used Anna's Patreon Printables to accent the page and it has really made the bujo spread pop. I love how the October header sets off the page and that stag is soooo beautiful. I love how the page is simple but effective; I can't wait to get planning. I have a busy month ahead, but I get to end it all in Brussels for Plannercon Europe.
Autumn Planner Dashboard
My final make was to update one of my pocket dashboards. I used a tutorial from a UK Planner to make a dashboard pouch pocket a while back and had already added the gold spray around a flower embellishment from a Stamping Up kit. Finally I added Anna's bear from the collage sheet and an acorn. I again used a white paint pen to add the Happy Autumn writing.
I love my Autumn set up and have got so much use out the September kit. It is now used in my planner, bullet journal, creative journal and an art journal. Hopefully you will be able to give some of these a go and maybe it's given you some ideas as to how you can use the collage sheets in your own planning and creative works. There are so many options, so don't hold back. printable images can be used in anything you do, you just need to go with the flow and don't overthink it. I now feel a scrapbook page coming on for my next little project.

Well it’s finally Autumn, my favourite season, but that’s no reason not to still create pages with hints of Summer right? The collage sheets from Mrs Brimbles Patreon are stunning and allowed me to do just that. I have created a page by cutting up her artwork collage sheets that she created originally for canvas work. I must say I love the final result of the art journal page.
Creating the page:
The page I have created is for a Travelling Art Journal Circle over on my Facebook group Kerrymay._.Makes a Mess. I was sent a stunning book from the person before me in the circle (Sarah Gamble), I was really scared of ruining the page and paper. I applied a thin layer of red hued acrylic paint which I added to the page using a brayer roller. I went over this with white acrylic paint to dull down the colour and allow the background of the page to peep through. I then used a stencil which came free with a magazine and applied heavy texture paste to create small flowers.
Next I used some homemade spray inks over the flowers and to the right of the page to give it texture and shine. I think the gold spray in particular looks lovely and really makes the page pop. A little gem was used in the centre of the two mini flowers for added sparkle.
Next I used a stamp pad and stencil/mask to add more texture to the page. Now came the fun part: adding the collage sheets. I printed off the canvas artwork sheets then put them all together and held together with a paperclip. I then drew a flower petal shape on the top layer and cut this out so that I had 10 cut out pieces all identical. I then arranged and glued them in a flower formation to the left side of the page. I added detail using a standard black and purple felt tip and then added some gold glitter glue blobs to add a bit of bling.
Finally a circle vinyl sticker for the centre of the flower was added and I used individual letter stamps with black ink to add my caption to the page: ‘You Are Blooming Amazing’. I love the way the collage sheets really bring out the colour in the page, they look so textured.
The final page looks lovely in the book I was given to create the page. I hope the recipient likes it.
In addition to the lovely artwork collage sheets, Anna has provided a multitude of other stunning collage sheets using her own artwork. There are the beautiful Autumnal animal paintings that you may have seen on The Happy Place… I am saving these for my next post though as I plan to do a spot of Autumn creative journaling and dashboard making.

Firstly I used patterned tissue paper which I sealed with matte medium. I then added watercolour to the page using paints from Poundworld! They are a complete bargain - you can see Geraldine Jayne testing them out here.
I followed a set of process videos from Anna's Patreon, starting with the July content on creating sketchy girls and then moved on to facial expressions, painting a girl and finally creating a whole art journal page. The instructions are very simple and so clear to follow. I followed on from this using some her amazing collage sheets for the design elements, including the houses and flowers. Finally I added detailing in black felt tip and a white posca paint pen. I love the effect of the finished pages.
For the journal itself I used a cheap sketchbook from Hobbycraft and added some scrapbook papers and washi tape to the cover and then decorated the first two pages with the list of participants in our circle and a comment on the inspiration for the page. I can't wait to see everyone's pages they have created. For a look at everyone's work don't forget to head over the the group - Kerrymay._.Makes a Mess.

I am so excited to be on the Brimbles Creative Team and even more excited to write my first blog post as part of the team. I have been engrossed in Anna's Patreon videos, there is so much content and it is all so informative. In addition to the video tutorials, chatty vlogs and time lapse creation videos there are also monthly downloads of amazing collage sheets (one of my loves at the minute). I love creating art using collage sheets, they are so versatile and I like having the freedom to cut up someone's art work to create your own feels almost like I am recycling, but still having a sense of the original artwork in the piece too.
The collage to journal page process:
My finished art journal page is above and I love it. I used a variety of different collage elements from Anna's sheets including the cute girl (I cut off the body and created my own as you will see in the video below). I then gathered the other elements to use, a gorgeous painted background from Anna's collages that I cut and ripped to become the shoe and boot. They weren't originally going to be a shoe and boot, but you will again see that develop in the video. I don't like pre-planning my pages, I much prefer to see where the creative mood takes me.
To start with I painted the background using watercolour and then bit by built up the image using the collage sheets, ending with the text and decoration using a posca paint pen. Anna's videos helped enormously during the process. I looked at how Anna mixed her paint for faces and even had a go at sketching and doodling too (more on this later). Have a look below how I developed the piece.
I really love the finished zetti art style page and will definitely be creating more pages using the collage sheets. The quote I have used is my take and a play on an existing quote, but this really resonates with me as I am quite the worrier and I need to move on instead of lingering and mulling things over.
You can see my other zetti style collage artwork here My Makes.
Another part of Anna's Patreon videos and tutorials are the 'Sketchy Girls'. You learn how to draw or copy Anna's drawings and doodles and watch step by step through the process, from drawing the hair and outlines, to painting them. Here I copied Anna's drawings and then adding my own text and decoration to the page. I love it, so use it in a plastic wallet dashboard for my tn.
I have now moved on to looking at the next installment of videos for next month including sketching expressions. I am still a newbie at doodling and drawing, as I'm much more comfortable with paint and a glue stick, so have really enjoyed how this is pushing me in my art practice. I used to do a lot of art work digitally years ago when I had a pixel graphics website and the doodling has taken me back to those days. I hope to be able to do a full body sketch soon and can't wait for the next tutorials on drawing full bodies to tie it all together.
I have really loved the first month of being on the Creative Team, it is really helping me to grow in my work and has allowed me to get back in to art journaling more as I was neglecting my art work. I have also loved being a part of the Brimbles Patreon... wait till you see the collage sheets for August! I can't wait to get a new printer so I can print out the goodies.

July Art Journaling Sneak Peeks:
It's only the 8th July and I have a lot of things planned for this month already. I have started playing around with the collage sheets I downloaded as part of Mrs Brimbles patreon reward tiers. They are great, I love collage art and can't wait to get the full video and art work finished. This is still a work in progress and is not even nearly completed, but here is a sneak peek. You can join the patreon page here www.patreon.com/mrsbrimbles. There will be a full post and video on this on the 31st July so be sure to subscribe. I will also be uploading a flip book process video to my You Tube Channel for a snail/happy mail I have sent out this week.
In addition to the Mrs Brimbles art work, I bought a Cosmo Cricket TN folder and have finally had the time to add some watercolour paint to it. It was a bit messy in places so I covered it with a doily - (a happy accident). I've still got to paint the inside, but it will get finished eventually.
June Art Journaling Review
For June I started doing a few bits of art journaling starting with some doodling and watercolour of the 'Sketchy Girls' from Mrs Brimbles Patreon tutorials - I won't post all that I have created as this will be part of the full blog post at the end of the month as well.
Phew, busy, busy, busy I also go on holiday from the 31st July for two blissful weeks in Spain, I can't wait. Don't worry I can still take part in the journal challenges from my sun lounger by the pool ._.
Take Care everyone and keep creating
Woo hoo, so proud to announce that I made it on to the Mrs Brimbles Arty Creative Team with these other amazing creatives, so exciting. I would have posted earlier, but I have been so busy at work these last few weeks with Ofsted inspectors and a faculty review.
I can't wait to share with you all the arty creations and hope that I can do them justice. It is the kick I need actually to get back in to art journaling and doodling, as other than creative journaling I have done very little art of late.
I will be sharing my creations from Mrs Brimbles exclusive Patreon content which you can check out here - www.patreon.com/mrsbrimbles
