Woo hoo, so proud to announce that I made it on to the Mrs Brimbles Arty Creative Team with these other amazing creatives, so exciting. I would have posted earlier, but I have been so busy at work these last few weeks with Ofsted inspectors and a faculty review.
I can't wait to share with you all the arty creations and hope that I can do them justice. It is the kick I need actually to get back in to art journaling and doodling, as other than creative journaling I have done very little art of late.
I will be sharing my creations from Mrs Brimbles exclusive Patreon content which you can check out here - www.patreon.com/mrsbrimbles
You can also check out her two online courses

I can't wait to get started
I have a bit of a 'vintage ephemera' obsession of late. I am in love with the pretty journals I see on Instagram that use old botany/floral images and vintage ladies. So I have had a look around the internet and found the ten best free vintage ephemera printables / digi scraps sites for use in your planners, smash books, journals, collage art, mixed media and scrapbooks. Have fun browsing, scrapping and journaling.

6. Free Vintage Digital Stamps
This is my favourite, another stunning collection of ephemera and digital stamps. Ephemera from all vintage eras and a lovely collection of vintage lady printables. The images below used ladies from their collection. Most can be used on website banners cards to sell too.
7. The Graphics Fairy
A gorgeous collection of digital downloads for scrapbooking and journaling. Some are free, some are from the weekly email archive and some are premium downloads. A great resource.
8. Wings of Whimsy
Lots of cute holiday based ephemera, lovely Easter images.
9. The Old Design Shop
Lots of old book images and pretty vintage ephemera, a haven for vintage goodies.
10. Sweetly Scrapped
Scanned ephemera from the link above - all vintage and all beautiful. Click the link to the main site from the banner for all of her digital resources. A scrappers and creative journalers little bit of heaven. Great quality scanned and edited images to use as the originals or as blank tags.
I hope you enjoyed the links as much as I enjoyed browsing them to put this post together. Please do tag the shops if you post your creations on Instagram or Twitter etc. I would love a tag too, would love to see what you have created. Use the tag #kmmam (Kerrymay._.Makes A Mess). Don't forget to have a browse through my printables and my Best Free Planner Printable Sites.
Take Care, Kerry xx
Hi all, just a quick round up of what I have been up to over the end of term school holidays...aww, it's so lovely to have a break from work and so nice to be able to catch up on my planners, creative journaling, smash books, art and blog. I really have been using the break for a bit of me time... the marking can wait. I can't believe it is Easter already, where is time going? Crazy!
ART JOURNALING GROUP CHALLENGES:
If you missed the post about the new Art Journaling Group you can see it here or you can join the group directly here - https://www.facebook.com/groups/KerrymayMakesAMess
There is quite a bit going on in the group. We took part in the first group challenge last week on Tea Bag Art. You can see my results of that above and pop in to the group to see the creations the lovely members made... they are awesome! The hardest part of this challenge for me was that I don't like tea. No, not just don't like it, I hate it, hate the smell and hate touching wet tea bags. It certainly was a challenge.
We are now on to challenge 2 which takes inspiration from acrylic fluid painting and drawing circles. If you're up for the challenge then pop on over and share your creativity.
The group also has places you can share your work and is a place you can go to relax, chat or get inspiration or ask for help.
Above is a couple of new pages in my art journal for the 2nd group challenge, it's a bit of a 'creative mess' so hopefully I will have a go at a better one this weekend (after I have done at least 'some' of my marking before I go back to work (hahaha). The second image is a page from my smash book, which I love. I received some gorgeous washi tape and ephemera from the UKPA group on Facebook as part of their Wishes post, so have put it to good use. I am on a No Spend on planner, art or stationery of any kind from now until 22nd May (I know, I know, violin please and a huge dose of willpower thrown my way). See more of my Smash Book pages here.

The value of the contents will always be more than the cost of the kit as well :)

Hi all, so excited, with the new news. I have a set up an Art Journaling Group on Facebook - Kerrymay._.Makes a Mess please do pop over and join in the creative fun.
A lot of people on Facebook in the planning community were looking for an art journaling group to share their creations, tips, posts etc so I have created one. Most of the others online were for experts and we wanted a little place where we could all learn and get inspiration from each other, without the limits of lots of rules. There will be freebies, have threads to share weekly creations and threads to share blogs and journaling videos. There will also be tutorials and challenges each month or week and lots of other bits n bobs. Hope to see you there.
JOIN THE GROUP HERE
A creative place for Art Journaling, Creative Journaling. A relaxing place to share your creations and to get involved. Monthly challenges, freebie resources and a place to share your creative pages, videos, blogs and tutorials. Feel free to invite others who you think may want to join in.
Please only post your own work or links to others.
No advertising shops please, unless we are looking for specific resources.
LET'S HAVE SOME CREATIVE FUN!

I thought it would be nice to do a bit of a 'Creative Showcase' of what I have been up to at the end of the month, a bit like a monthly review, but of my art journaling and creative makes, not just of my planners. So January...
Ahhhh January you little terror. It really does sneak up on you and then grabs you by the horns saying "I will make this the most miserable month". That said and in-spite of having the flu and working ridiculous hours for the school production I am directing (Wizard of Oz), I have managed some downtime to create a little bit.
Finally I have filmed a flip through of my Travelers Notebook EDC (Every Day Carry) planner in my Uglydori, so you can see how my planning has been developing. Don't forget to subscribe if you haven't already.
Thanks for reading the blog and for your continued support,
Love Kerry xx

Art Journaling Series
Rubbing Alcohol & Watercolour:
Finally you may wish to try adding rubbing alcohol. (WARNING - Don't do this with the children and be safe at all times, do not put the rubbing alcohol near flames and don't apply too much heat when drying the page). I used a 70% alcohol one. Carefully pour a drop or two into the lid and drip a few drops onto the page. Be very careful and always have something protecting your desk or work area. You can do it this way or use a pipette or cotton bud to drip the alcohol. The effect this creates is stunning and it will keep burning through the watercolour until it is fully dry, so make sure there is nothing flammable near by. Rubbing alcohol can be used to create a variety of effects in paint and there are several tutorials out there. If you missed how to create an alcohol ink spray paint be sure to have a read of tutorial 2 here.
I'm rather sad that the art journaling mini series has come to an end, please be sure to share your creations with me on my Instagram / Twitter and let me know in the comments of anything else you would like to see. Use the hashtag #kmmam
CATCH THE ENTIRE ART SERIES HERE.
I also hope to see you in my art journaling group Kerrymay._.Makes a Mess.
The third instalment in the Art Journaling Mini Series is all about scraping and rolling acrylic paint to create different effects for your mixed media backgrounds and art/creative journals. These techniques are so easy to achieve they could also be done with your children.
So there we have it, get creative on the cheap and try some new techniques. Be sure to check out the other two tutorials in the mini series and check out the art goodies giveaway in post two - now closed, but you can still show me using the hashtag #kmmam (I really do want to see your work and how you have applied the techniques).
